2/5/2008 Van Patten partners with IGE

Van Patten Industries won an order from Remington and Snap-on for new innovative products under its Inhibitor™ line. To meet the demand of the customers Van Patten wanted to connect with a local assembly and packaging source that could do a quality job on large volumes. Jeff Sorensen, President of Van Patten Industries, learned about a superb local resource, Illinois Growth Enterprises. Illinois Growth Enterprise’s Loves Park production facility employs over 200 adults with disabilities that do quality work on a timely basis. Sorensen entrepreneurship journey started when he located his business at the EIGERlab. As he customized his Inhibitor™ product for new customers, he learned of other businesses at the EIGERlab to support him. “DnT CAD and SUPERFABlab at EIGERlab helped me develop samples to win these orders,” said Sorensen.

“It was great to find a local company with the capacity to deliver quality, efficient work so we could get these new Inhibitor™ products ready to go for Remington and Snap-on,” stated Jeff Sorensen. “Then I learned that Illinois Growth Enterprises production facility provides work for people with disabilities. It makes me feel good to know our company is working with such a fine organization located right here in our community. Remington and Snap-on are pleased with this partnership too.”

Brian Vatter, Customer Applications Specialist with Rockford Area Ventures and the SUPERFABlab at EIGERlab outlines the process, “From ideas to reality, we assist businesses in finding quick ways to develop their products. Rockford has many businesses with an excellent reputation for successfully launching new products. Jeff Sorensen at Van Patten Industries and inventor of Inhibitor™ products looked to us for support in efforts to expand their product line. We worked with Jeff on every step of the project and recommended looking at IGE to do the final assembly and packaging.”

Partnering with Van Patten Industries is ideal for IGE too. “While this job is running, it employs 20 to 30 people. Whether its these new Inhibitor™ products Van Patten developed for Remington and Snap-on, short run, quick turn around or on-going orders, our workforce has the skills, flexibility and expertise to get the job done,” shares Lori Mills, VP of Sales and Marketing at IGE.
